‘These white people, they will kill me!!!’ We were in a corner of the remote state Bihar, not far away from Farakka, close to the Indian border with Bangladesh. In a place with good views over the Ganges river we stopped for a break. Soon after, many people, young and old, but mainly men, hurried themselves to take a closer look at the two whites on their fully loaded Royal Enfield.

Last March we went to Rajasthan on the Bullet for a four weeks road trip. Together on our Enfield for the last time, at least for now. There was an urge for some relaxation after ten months living and travelling through Nepal and India. We kind of wanted to escape the chaos of these countries before going to back to the Netherlands, and Rajasthan seemed the perfect spot.

A trip to Nuwakot from Kathmandu is ideal for a motorbike trip of a few days. The route takes you along fun and beautiful mountain roads and valleys. In Nuwakot you can unwind in The Famous Farm. Nuwakot itself is a sleepy settlement with historic significance and a beautiful Durbar (kings) square. A not yet discovered spot in Nepal.

By Pieter – Every year many westerners flee their homes, wifes or jobs to ride a Royal Enfield Bullet in India, Nepal or Tibet. They are attracted by these mysterious eastern countries and the legendary Royal Enfield motorbike. After their trip they go home and write a blog on how fantastic their adventures on the Royal Enfield has been.

Showing off could also be a good synonym for their stories? Nothing wrong with that of course as everyone may have his own fun, but it made me think.

Is the Royal Enfield Bullet as good as everyone is saying? I experienced a lot of trouble with it lately. On top of that I see a motorbike brand that will be out of existence if it will not change. And no ‘holiday fans’ that can do anything about it.
